Melt slowly then set aside: 1/3 c. evaporated milk
Mix together until sticky: 3/4 c. melted butter/butter 1/3 c. evaporated milk 1 c. nuts (opt.)
Pat 1/2 of cake dough into greased and floured 9"x13" cake pan. Cook for 6 minutes at 350 degrees.
Sprinkle with 1 cup chocolate chips and drizzle with melted caramel mixture. Cover with remaining half of cake dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 18 more minutes. (They will come out gooey, so don't expect them to look like cooked brownies or you will over cook them!)
