BROWNIES: 2 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. Crisco 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 c. cold water 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. soda 1/4 tsp. salt 2 eggs FROSTING: 1/2 c. butter 4 tbsp. cocoa 5 tbsp. milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 lb. powdered sugar Nuts (opt.) BROWNIES: Sift sugar and flour together in large mixing bowl; set aside. Take a cooking pan and 1/2 cup butter, Crisco, cocoa and cold water. Bring to a boil. Pour this mixture over flour and sugar and mix well. To this add remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour into a greased and floured cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. Bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees. |
