BUTTERMILK SUGAR COOKIES

2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening OR 1 c. butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour (or more)
Dash of nutmeg OR cinnamon (optional)

Blend and mix all ingredients well. Drop onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees. Very, very good.
