COCOA BROWNIES--GRASSHOPPER BARS
 

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2/3 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread in greased 8x8x2 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. 1/3 c. butter, softened 2 tbsp. green creme de menthe 2 tbsp. white creme de cacao 1 1/2 square unsweetened chocolate

Prepare brownies and cool. Mix remaining ingredients except chocolate. Spread over brownies. Refrigerate 15 minutes. Heat chocolate over low heat until melted. Drizzle over powdered sugar mix. Refrigerate at least 3 hours. Cut into bars.

MINT BARS:

Substitute 1/4 cup milk for creme de menthe and cacao. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon peppermint, spearmint or wintergreen and 6 drops of green food coloring.

Joan says she doubles the frosting.
