AUNT SALLY'S COOKIES
 

1 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. molasses, dark is better
1 c. sour milk
Dash of salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
5 c. flour

Mix all together. Chill one hour or more. Roll on floured board (not too thin). Cut with a Spam can. Bake in 350 degree oven for 6 to 8 minutes.

FROSTING:

1/2 c. water
1 tsp. vinegar
2 egg whites
12 regular or 24 sm. marshmallows

Boil water and vinegar to medium stage. Pour this over the two well beaten egg whites. Add marshmallows. Ice the cookies on the bottom side. Let dry before putting away. They freeze well.
