GERMAN CHOCOLATE BROWNIES

1 box German chocolate cake mix (do use the mix with pudding in it)
2/3 c. butter, melted
1/3 c. evaporated milk
1 c. broken pecans
1 (14 oz.) pkg. Kraft caramels
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips (real chocolate)
1/3 c. evaporated milk

Mix together cake mix, butter, milk and pecans. Spread 2/3 of the batter in the bottom of a 9"x13" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes.

Melt caramels in evaporated milk and stir until smooth. Remove brownies from oven and cool several minutes. Carefully pour the melted caramels over the brownies evenly, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the caramels (about 2/3 of the bag) and spread the remaining batter over all. (Sometimes you will have to add a bit more milk to the batter in order to make is a spreading consistency.)

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes longer, cool before cutting.
