NEWLYWED'S CASSEROLE

1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, undrained
3 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 onions, chopped
1 lg. green pepper, chopped
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. uncooked regular rice
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. sweet basil
1/4 tsp. marjoram
1/8 tsp. pepper

In vegetable oil, saute onion and green pepper until tender; add ground beef and brown well. Stir in remaining ingredients; pour into greased 2 quart casserole. Bake, covered, in preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes, uncover and bake 15 minutes. 6-8 servings.

This recipe is quick, easy, economical, delicious, and always turns out right. It is perfect for the young newlywed who doesn't know how to cook, and when it is not being served to company, there's enough for leftovers, saving the young wife time for other more interesting wifely duties!

Dress up this dish with a simple salad, hot rolls, iced tea, and a nice slice of pound cake.
