CANDY APPLES
 

Apples (dry)
1/2 c. water
3/4 c. Karo
2 c. sugar
3 oz. red hots
Popcicle sticks
1 (1 oz.) bottle red food coloring

Be sure apples are dry and clean. Put sticks in bottom of apple. Combine sugar, water, and Karo. Bring to a boil, then add red hots. Stir continuously until red hots dissolve. Cook until mixture thickens and will be very brittle when dropped into cold tap water. If you can chew the candy without it sticking to your mouth its ready. Dip apples and turn down on greased cookie sheet.
