3 sticks butter 3 c. sugar 5 eggs 3 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. cocoa 1 c. milk 2 tsp. vanilla Cream butter and sugar together. Then beat with mixer on medium for 7 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating each egg only until yellow is gone. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to the above mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mix. Add vanilla. Pour into greased and floured tube pan or loaf pans. Do not fill pans over 3/4 full. Bake at 325 degrees for 80 minutes for tube pan, 50 minutes for loaf pans. Test for doneness. CHOCOLATE SAUCE: Brown together 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, and 2 tablespoons butter. Add a 5 oz. can evaporated milk. Let mixture come to a boil, then boil 1 minute, stirring constantly. Serve with Chocolate Pound Cake. |
