STIR-IN-PAN CHOCOLATE CAKE
 

1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa (Hershey's)
1/2 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. melted shortening (3/4 cup for 9 by 13 pan)
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. cold water

Mix together flour, soda, sugar, cocoa and salt in 9 by 9 inch pan. Make 3 holes. Put melted shortening in one, vinegar in second and vanilla in third. Pour water over all and stir together. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. (I double all ingredients and put in 9 by 13 pan for larger cake. Bake 30 to 40 minutes until center is firm.)

FUDGE FROSTING:

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa (Hershey's)
1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. butter

Combine ingredients in saucepan and bring to a full boil; boil 1 minute. Beat immediately after removing from stove. Spread while still a little warm and runny. (I double all ingredients and boil 2 minutes for 9 by 13 inch sheet cake.)
