2 c. water 2 c. sugar 1/4 c. real butter 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg 1 slice lemon 8-10 raw sweet potatoes or yams Bring water and sugar to a boil. Add butter, nutmeg and lemon slice, then add raw potatoes, sliced 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Return to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer until sweet potatoes are tender and cook through, about 35-40 minutes. Serves 10-12. |
