LEBANESE STRING BEANS (Lubyee)
 

1 bag frozen string beans or 1 lb. fresh
1 sm. can tomato paste
4 cans water
2 cloves garlic
Salt, allspice & dried parsley to taste

Saute sliced onion and sliced garlic in a little oil until medium brown. Add 1 can tomato paste along with water. Stir mixture until all paste is well blended. Add in all dried spices and stir. Add in string beans (they do not need to be thawed). Stir in and cook until beans are tender on a low-medium flame (about 45 minutes). Stir occasionally to avoid sticking. Serve with rice pilaf and Syrian bread.
