LAYERED TORTILLA PIE
 

1 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp. butter
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (2 1/4 oz.) can sliced ripe olives, drained
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
6 corn tortillas, buttered
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 c. water

Brown beef, onion and garlic in butter. Drain. Add tomato sauce, olives, chili powder, salt and pepper. In a round 2 quart casserole, alternate layers of tortillas, meat sauce and 1 1/2 cups cheese. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup cheese over top. Pour water at edge of casserole into bottom. Cover and bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Uncover and let stand 5 minutes before cutting in wedges. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
