When one of the little kids had a "boo-boo" (injury or otherwise) and came crying to Mom, she would say, "Now, now. This calls for 'Stone Soup'. You go out in the yard and find a pretty stone and I'll put the kettle on for it." Needless to say the hurt was soon gone as the little one found other distractions outside. (Mom had quite a collection of stones but I don't ever recall getting the soup made!)
