1 tbsp. shortening 1 lb. stew beef (in 1" cubes) 1 lg. onion, sliced Salt & pepper 1/2 c. water 4 sm. potatoes 1 c. green beans 4 sm. carrots 1 tbsp. flour 1/4 c. water Heat cooker. Brown meat in hot fat. Add onion, salt, pepper and water. Place vegetables over beef. Close cover securely. Cook 10 to 12 minutes. Cool cooker at once and remove cover. Stir in flour and water paste to thicken. NOTE: This recipe is for a 4 quart cooker. For a 6 quart cooker (if you wish) ingredients may be increased by 1/2. |
