1 lg. lump of coal (or 2 or 3 sm. ones)
6 tbsp. bluing
6 tbsp. salt
6 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. household ammonia
Food coloring (optional)

Wash coal thoroughly; place in wide shallow dish. Combine bluing, salt, water, and ammonia; pour over coal, being sure all areas are moistened. After flowers start growing, drop on food coloring sparingly for color variety.
