2 c. flour 1 tbsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. cream of tarter 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 3/4 c. buttermilk In a bowl, stir together dry ingredients, then cut in shortening and make a well in the center and pour in buttermilk, stir till dough clings together. On a lightly floured surface, knead dough gently for ten to 12 strokes. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter, dipping cutter into flour between cuts. Transfer biscuits onto cookie sheet. Bake in 450 degree oven, 10-12 minutes until golden brown. |
