BANANA NUT BREAD
 

1 3/4 c. sifted self-rising flour
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. mashed ripe bananas (3-4)

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add flour alternately with bananas, blending thoroughly after each addition. Grease bottom of 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Turn batter into pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes. Let bread cool in pan 20-30 minutes before turning out onto wire rack. Makes 1 loaf.
