8 to 10 baking potatoes, pared 1/2 c. butter, melted Salt Heat oven to 425 degrees. Brush each potato with butter and sprinkle with salt. Place in rectangular pan, 13 x 9 x 2 inches. Bake 40 minutes or until tender and golden brown, basting occasionally with butter. Makes 8 to 10 servings. FAN-TAN POTATOES: Cut each pared potato lengthwise into 1/8-inch slices, being careful not to cut completely through one end. Spread slices to resemble fan; brush with butter and sprinkle with salt. CROSSCUT POTATOES: Cut each pared potato diagonally into 1/2-inch slices, being careful not to cut completely through bottom; repeat in opposite direction. Brush with butter and sprinkle with salt. |
