1/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 beaten egg

Sift together: 1 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Add 1/2 cup walnuts. Cut 5 tart apples fine. Stir in dry mixture and add 2 tablespoons water. Bake in pie pan at 350 degrees.

BUTTER SAUCE:

1/2 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. whipping cream
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch

Boil 2 minutes and add vanilla. Serve hot over apple pie dessert.
