3 c. fresh blackberries
1/2 - 1 c. sugar, depending on sweetness of berries
Mash berries slightly with sugar in Dutch oven, or large heavy skillet (one with high lid). Set aside while you mix up a small batch of drop biscuits (use biscuit mix), using light cream instead of milk.
Heat skillet of berries to boiling; drop the soft dough by spoonfuls atop. Put on lid and cook as you would dumplings, 15 to 20 minutes. Watch to see that the fruit does not boil over. Serve warm with cream.
