CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE
 

2 squares unsweetened chocolate
3 tbsp. butter
1 c. light corn syrup
3/4 c. sugar
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. coarsely chopped pecans
1 unbaked 9" pie shell
1/2 c. cream, whipped

Melt chocolate and butter over boiling water. Boil syrup and sugar together 2 minutes. Add chocolate mixture. Pour slowly over eggs, stirring constantly. Add vanilla and nuts. Turn into pie shell. Arrange an outer and an inner circle of whole pecan halves on top to decorate. Bake in moderate oven, 375 degrees, for 45 to 50 minutes or until completely puffed across top. Cool. Top with whipped cream.
