ELLEN'S SIMPLE SALT PICKLES
 

Wash cucumbers, pack in jars. Mix: 1 qt. water 1 c. canning salt

If dill and garlic (which I prefer) is desired. Put a grape leaf in bottom and top of pickles, to keep them firm. Do this for just salt pickles. Alum may be used in place of grape leaves. Heat lids and seal. They will not pull down, but will keep.
