HUNGARIAN PICKLED TOMATOES OR CABBAGE
 

2 c. apple cider vinegar
3 qts. water
2 heaping tsp. canning salt or salt to taste
1 heaping tsp. pickling spice

Green tomatoes cleaned and enough to fill 3 quart jars. Cabbage cleans and torn into large pieces to fill 3 quart jars. Bring brine mixture to boil and place tomatoes or cabbage in jars along with several garlic cloves, dill (fresh or weed) and whole black peppers (3 or 4). When brine has boiled, pour over tomatoes or cabbage in jars. Let stand, covered loosely for several hours. Seal jars and refrigerate. Serve like pickles or side dish with sausage or main dishes.
