3 slices onions to each quart 1 tsp. celery seed 4 c. sugar 1/4 c. salt 1 qt. vinegar 2 c. water 1/2 tsp. alum 2 cloves garlic
Heat salt, sugar, vinegar, and bring to a boiling point. Pour over cucumbers while hot. Seal at once. Put in hot water bath for 10 minutes. Do not use for 30 days.
