CABBAGE BURGERS
 

1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. warm water
2 c. milk, scalded
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. shortening
6 to 7 c. flour

FILLING:

4 c. cabbage, shredded
1 c. onion, chopped
1 1/2 lbs. ground meat
Salt & pepper to taste

FILLING: Steam cabbage until tender. Brown onions and meat, mix with cabbage and seasoning.

BREAD: Soften yeast in water. Combine milk, sugar, salt and shortening. Cool to lukewarm and add yeast mixture. Add flour to make moderately stiff dough. Let rise until double. Pinch off balls of dough about 2 1/2 inch in diameter. Roll out to size of saucer, put 3 tablespoons of filling in center, bring up the sides of dough and pinch together to seal. Put upside down in greased cookie pan and let rise 10 minutes. Bake 20 minutes at 375 degrees.
