EMPANADAS FILLING: 1 lb. ground beef 3 onions, minced 1 lg. can tomato sauce Salt and pepper to taste 2 1/2 tsp. Grandma's Spanish seasoning 1 tsp. cumin powder DOUGH: 3 c. flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tbsp. shortening 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. milk Brown beef and onion. Add tomato sauce and spices. Simmer 1/2 hour. Add approximately 2 tablespoons flour to thicken. Let cool. Mix dough ingredients well. Form into small balls. Roll into 6 inch circles. Put filling on one side, fold over and seal edges real good. Deep fry until browned. |
