6 c. water 4 c. vinegar 1 1/2 c. coarse salt 1 tbsp. alum 1 tbsp. black pepper 1 bay leaf 1 garlic bud 1 sprig dill
Pack cucumber in quart jars. In each jar put bay leaf, garlic bud and sprig dill. Boil water, vinegar, salt, alum and black pepper. Pour over cucumbers and seal.
