STAINED GLASS FRUIT CAKE
 

1 1/2 lb. pitted dates, chopped
1 lb. candied pineapple chunks
1 lb. candied cherries
2 lb. pecans or walnuts
2 c. sifted self-rising flour
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. light Karo syrup
1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c. Mazola corn oil

Grease 4 loaf pans. Mix fruit and nuts. Sift dry ingredients. Mix eggs, Karo syrup and oil. Gradually mix in dry ingredients. Pour over fruit mix and mix well. Firmly pack into pans. Bake about 1 hour and 15 minutes or until top is dry. Bake at 275 degrees. Cool in pan.
