1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
1/2 c. dates, chopped
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Beat shortening, sugars, eggs, vanilla together. Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture. Mix in fruit and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet and bake in 350 degrees until done. Makes 4 to 5 dozen cookies.
