OLD FASHIONED SPAGHETTI SAUCE

SAUCE:

1 lg. can tomato puree
1 lg. can tomato sauce
1 sm. can tomato paste

Put in large pot and rinse sauce from cans adding about 1/2 can of water to each can and add to sauce. Add:

1 tbsp. crushed garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 tsp. sugar
Sprinkle dried basil to cover surface

MEAT:

2 or 3 pieces of Western style pork ribs
1 to 1 1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausage (hot if you prefer)

Season pork with salt, pepper and garlic salt. Place pork and whole strip of sausage in large ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven until brown. Drain well on paper towels. Cut sausage into size desired. Add meat to sauce. Put meatballs into cookie sheet leaving just a trace of the grease left from the pork and sausage. Bake meatballs at 350 degrees until brown. Turn occasionally.

MEATBALLS:

1 lb. ground beef
1 c. bread crumbs
1/2 c. romano cheese
1 tsp. crushed garlic or garlic salt to taste
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
Pepper to taste

Mix by hand and form balls. After browning in oven, pour off all grease from cookie sheet. You can add water to the pan and take up the brownings from it and pour the remains and water into your sauce. I do not do this any longer, adds too much fat and calories.

Add meatballs to sauce and let all simmer for 3 to 4 hours. Use over pasta.
