GERMAN APPLE CHEESE TORTE
 

1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
8 oz. cream cheese
Slivered almonds
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. apples
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla; blend in flour and press on bottom and sides of spring form pan. Mix cream cheese and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Mix and pour into crust. Peel and slice apples and mix with sugar and cinnamon. Spoon over filling. Top with slivered almonds. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce to 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool on high rack. Serve with vanilla ice cream while still hot.
