STROMBOLI
 

2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
2 tbsp. oil
1/3 pkgs. dry yeast
1 c. warm water

Mix first 4 ingredients together. Dissolve yeast in the warm water. Add water to other ingredients. Knead well. Let dough rest for at least 5 minutes (no longer than 10). You may also use frozen or homemade bread dough for a heavier shell. Spread dough out on a greased baking sheet to approximately 1/4 inch thick. On half of the dough, place fillings.

Filling: Choose from the following favorites or add your own.

Italian sausage

Pepperoni

Any type of luncheon meat

Cheese (Mozzarella and Provolone preferred but others may be substituted)

Green or red peppers

Fresh or sauteed onions

Sliced tomatoes

Sliced zucchini

Sauce

Fold the other half of the dough over and pinch the edges. Bake at 425 degrees for approximately 25 minutes or until golden brown. May be topped with heated sauce. Stromboli is also great cold!
