2 1/2 c. sliced apples 1 c. whole wheat flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1/4 c. raisins, optional 1/2 tsp. soda 1 c. rolled oats 1/2 c. corn syrup or honey Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly. Spread half of mixture into baking dish. Cover with apples and raisins. Dot with butter. Drip 1/2 cup of corn syrup or honey over top. Bake in moderate oven, 35 minutes or until apples are soft. Serve with milk. Other fruit may be used. |
