CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
 

1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1/2 stick butter
1 box confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Nuts, if desired

Have cream cheese and butter at room temperature. Beat them together and gradually. Add sifted sugar. Stir in nuts, if they are used. This frosting also lends itself well to the addition of grated coconut or cherries or chopped raisins.

SIMPLE ICING:

2 c. sugar
2/3 c. milk
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar and milk in saucepan, stirring well, bring to a boil. Cook to soft ball stage. Remove from heat. Beat in butter and add vanilla. Beat until icing reaches spreading consistency.
