Melt in your mouth cut-outs. Ungreased cookie sheet. 400 degree oven.

1 c. (2 sticks) butter
1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream butter. Add sugar gradually. Add unbeaten egg and vanilla; beat well. Sift together dry ingredients. Blend into creamed mixture. Divide dough; bake 8 to 10 minutes. Makes two dozen.
