1 c. flour
1 stick (1/2 c.) butter
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. powdered sugar
8 oz. cream cheese
12 oz. Cool Whip or equal frozen topping
2 pkg. instant pudding (favorite flavors--pistachio and butterscotch)
3 c. cold milk
Maraschino cherries (optional garnish)
Chopped walnuts (optional garnish)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
LAYER 1: Combine 1 cup flour, 1 stick butter and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. Press into 9x13 inch pan. Bake for 10-15 minutes until light brown. Cool completely.
LAYER 2: Beat together 1 cup powdered sugar and 8 oz. cream cheese. When creamy, mix in 8 oz. Cool Whip or equal frozen topping. (Do not use Dream Whip.) Mix well and spread on first layer.
LAYER 3: Beat 2 packages instant pudding and 3 cups milk until thick. Spread on second layer.
LAYER 4: Top with remaining Cool Whip. Garnish with maraschino cherries and chopped nuts. Best when chilled 3 or more hours before serving.
