1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. butter & Crisco (1/2 each)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking powder
2 c. flour

Mix as usual. Roll in small balls. Press down with a glass dipped in powdered sugar. Press a chocolate star in the middle of each cookie as soon as removed from oven - return to oven until star softens just a little. Bake cookies in moderate oven.
