Cream together 1/2 cup shortening and 1 cup sugar. Add and beat until fluffy 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Stir in 1/2 cup sour cream. Add 3 1/4 cup flour, 1 teaspoon soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg.

Roll out on floured surface. Roll about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Cut desired shapes. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Frost, if desired. Great for the children to use when baking Christmas cookies.
