1 1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. shortening
2 pkgs. yeast
4 c. flour
Oil for frying
Mix together: 1 tsp. cinnamon
Heat together but not boil; milk, sugar, salt and shortening until melted. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast. Add 2 cups flour, then add the last 2 cups; beat until smooth. Put dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp cloth. Let rise until double, 30 minutes.
Dust hands with flour. Pinch off pieces of dough about the size of a golf ball. Stretch to a 6 to 8 inch circle. Heat oil to 350 degrees. Drop the stretched dough into hot oil. Fry until it rises to the surface until golden brown. Roll in sugar mixture.
