AUNT ANN'S RAGGEDY ANN BARS
 

1 3/4 c. flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. softened butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Butterscotch topping (see below)

Cream butter, sugar, egg and vanilla thoroughly. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Spread evenly in 15 x 10 x 1 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and top with butterscotch topping and bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes more. Cut into bars when cooled.

BUTTERSCOTCH TOPPING FOR RAGGEDY ANN BARS:

1 c. butterscotch morsels
1/3 c. corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/3 c. flaked coconut
1 c. chopped nuts

Combine chips, corn syrup, butter and vanilla in top of double boiler or in a saucepan and melt over low heat. When chips are melted, stir in coconut and nuts, mixing well. See directions above.
