2/3 c. shortening (Crisco) 3/4 c. sugar 1 egg 2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. orange juice 2 tbsp. grated orange rind Cream shortening, sugar and egg until light and fluffy. Add juice and peel. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Drop by rounded teaspoonful 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes. Frost cooled cookies. FROSTING: 2 1/2 tbsp. butter 1 1/2 tbsp. orange juice 1 to 2 tbsp. orange peel (grated) 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar |
