CHERRY COCONUT BARS
 

PASTRY:

1 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. (1/4 lb.) butter
3 tbsp. powdered sugar

FILLING:

2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. coconut
1/2 c. maraschino cherries, drained and cut sm.

With hands, mix flour, butter and powdered sugar until smooth. Spread with fingers in 9x9x2 inch square pan. Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees.

Stir rest of ingredients into eggs. Spread over top of baked pastry (no need to cool). Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Cool. Cut into bars. Makes 16 squares.
