SPACESHIP SANDWICHES

Shortening
1 baking sheet
1 mixing bowl
Wooden spoon
Table knife
1/2 of a 1 lb. loaf frozen whole wheat bread dough, thawed
All-purpose flour
Rolling pin (optional)
Pastry brush
Milk
Fork

FILLING:

1 c. cooked, chopped beef
1/2 c. shredded carrot
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened and cut into cubes
2 tbsp. sweet pickle relish
Dash of pepper

1. Grease the baking sheet with waxed paper dipped in the shortening.

2. Use table knife to cut bread dough into 8 pieces. With adult help, roll each piece into a 4-5 inch circle on a lightly floured surface so it won't stick.

3. Place about 1/3 cup of the filling onto 4 of the circles.

4. Brush milk on the edges of the circle and place remaining circles on top of the filling, stretching the dough to fit. Press edges together with the tines of a fork.

5. Place on the greased baking sheet. Prick tops and brush with milk. With adult help, bake in a 375 degree oven 15-20 minutes or until golden. Cool. Makes 4.
