DEEP DARK CHOCOLATE CAKE
 

2 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 c. Hershey's cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. milk
1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. boiling water

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) round baking pans or 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. In large mixer bowl, stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Remove from mixer, stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Frost with Buttercream Frosting.

ONE BOWL BUTTERCREAM FROSTING:

1/4 c. Hershey's cocoa
1 c. powdered sugar
3 tbsp. butter, softened
2 tbsp. milk or water
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Makes 1 cup of frosting. In small bowl, stir together desired amount of cocoa and sugar. In small mixer bowl, beat butter well. Add remaining cocoa mixture with milk, beating to spreading consistency. Blend in vanilla.
