2 c. white sugar 6 tbsp. cocoa 2 tsp. soda 1 tsp. salt 3 c. flour 2 c. cold water 2/3 c. oil 2 tbsp. vinegar 2 tsp. vanilla Mix first 5 ingredients well. Add remaining ingredients and mix until batter is smooth. Bake in ungreased 13 x 9 cake pan for 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees. ICING: 2 c. brown sugar Milk 1 stick butter Put brown sugar in sauce pan. Add just enough milk (approximately 1/4 cup) to make sugar moist. Cook, stirring constantly, until thick (boil for 3 minutes). It is ready when a small spoonful makes a ball in cold water. Take off stove, add butter and beat with mixer until dissolved and desired consistency. |
