HONEY LEMON LAYER CAKE
 

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. honey
2 eggs
2 c. sifted cake flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. lemon juice

Cream together shortening and honey. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix sour milk with lemon juice. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with sour milk to egg mixture.

Pour into 2 greased 8-inch layer cake pans. Bake in 350 degree oven 25-30 minutes. Frost with Honey Cream Cheese Frosting and decorate with lemon candy slices or peach slices and cherries.

HONEY CREAM CHEESE FROSTING:

1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 tbsp. honey
2 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
1/2 lb. lemon fruit candy slices or peach slices and cherries

Blend cheese with honey. Gradually add sugar; beat until smooth.
