8 Hershey bars (plain) 1 c. chocolate syrup (Hershey) 1 c. butter 2 c. sugar 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 4 eggs 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. soda 1 tsp. vanilla flavor 1 c. buttermilk Grease and flour cake pans, set aside. Melt Hershey bars in syrup and cool. Sift dry ingredients together. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs to sugar and butter mixture. Add chocolate and vanilla. Alternate flour and buttermilk, mix well. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. HERSHEY BAR CAKE ICING: 1/2 c. sugar 1 sm. can evaporated milk 3 Hershey bars 1/4 stick butter Combine milk, sugar, boil 10 minutes, add candy bars and remove from heat. Beat until cool and thick enough to spread on cake. |
