2 lbs. fresh okra, sliced 2 tbsp. cooking oil 1 lb. ground meat 1 med. onion, chopped 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 1/2 c. water Salt & pepper to taste Put okra and oil in a heavy pot and cook, covered on medium heat, stirring frequently. When okra is well smothered (cooked down), add meat and onions. Cook 10 minutes and then add the tomato sauce, water and season to taste. Cover and continue cooking on low heat for 30 minutes. |
