1/4 c. butter 1/4 c. sliced almonds 2 lb. asparagus, cleaned and cut in pieces 1/4 c. swiss almond cheese (Merkts) Combine shortening and almonds in 2 quart microwaveable dish. Cook on high 3 to 4 minutes. Add asparagus, turning to coat. Cover with Saran Wrap. Cooked high 12 to 14 minutes. Salt lightly if desired. Let stand covered 5 minutes. Soften cheese in microwave on high 4 to 5 seconds. Drain asparagus and pour cheese on top. |
